Waiting on Wednesday #3

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating!

So, for today I am going to pick this book here:

Expected publication: October 14th 2014 by Ballantine Books

Synopsis per GoodReads:

For more than a decade, Jenna Metcalf has never stopped thinking about her mother, Alice, who mysteriously disappeared in the wake of a tragic accident. Refusing to believe that she would be abandoned as a young child, Jenna searches for her mother regularly online and pores over the pages of Alice’s old journals. A scientist who studied grief among elephants, Alice wrote mostly of her research among the animals she loved, yet Jenna hopes the entries will provide a clue to her mother’s whereabouts.

Desperate to find the truth, Jenna enlists two unlikely allies in her quest. The first is Serenity Jones, a psychic who rose to fame finding missing persons—only to later doubt her gifts. The second is Virgil Stanhope, a jaded private detective who originally investigated Alice’s case along with the strange, possibly linked death of one of her colleagues. As the three work together to uncover what happened to Alice, they realize that in asking hard questions, they’ll have to face even harder answers.

As Jenna’s memories dovetail with the events in her mother’s journals, the story races to a mesmerizing finish. A deeply moving, gripping, and intelligent page-turner, Leaving Time is Jodi Picoult at the height of her powers

I have read all but one of Jodi's books, I have been a diehard fan for years, and I have been seamlessly searching for a writer similar to Jodi, but always end up disappointed.  So every time she has a to be released book out, I anxiously await it.  I love how she writes controversial books, that you go in thinking you were firm and strongly against this topic, but then as you read, something magical happens, and your eyes open just a little bit, because what if?

So, I can't WAIT.

Link me up with your WoW, lemme see what is in store that I can add to my to be released TBR pile

  1. I haven't read a Jodi Picoult for a while but this one does sound interesting. I saw her share something on FB about it the other day - all excited and it was a nice reminder that writers (even the fairly famous ones) are human too!

  8. You know, I've heard so many GREAT things about this writer, yet, have never read one of her books. That's because I've always gotten the feeling that they're heartbreaking and very dramatic. However, I do think I should give her a try, and this particular book might very well be the first Picoult book I read, because the plot calls to me! Not that I've lost my mom, thank God. But this is such a poignant plot, I think I'll take the plunge! So, thanks for featuring it, since I'd never heard of it before!

Also, thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting on my own WOW!! : )
